Buy this only if you have a deathwish. It looks a great bit of kit. I took it out the box and attached my ipod then plugged it in. I switched it on then bang--i heard a loud noise -smoke started coming out of the back of the left speaker and i could smell burning. Thank goodness i didn't leave it unattended or we would have had a fire . Also thankfully my ipod remained unscathed. I see that the price has dropped by£5 but i still wouldn't buy one. This is a dangerous item at any price . You have been warned!!!

This clock beats the other competitors....
When i came across clock radios this one drew my attention.
With a brand like sony you really cant go wrong, i have quite a few of its products which performed greatly.
The radio is a sleek modern design with nice illuminous numbers at front. The colour is silver metalic, which will go good in any room.
When i searched for a sony clock radio i thought it would be a bit pricey, but the price is affordable, its worth the money and reliable and easy to use.
This sony clock is a 'must-buy'

Summary : Good basic item

I had an earlier version of this model that has just died after about 25 years of continuous use. This model is similar, but smaller and lighter. Nice and intuitive to programme. The only downside of this newer model that I've found is that there is now no separate button to turn the alarm off. You have to find the Mode Switch and turn it off, then remember to turn it back to Radio again, otherwise it won't wake you up the next day.

Summary : Not cheap, but worth it for the extra minutes of peace in bed!

We bought this clock for our 3 year old son as a way of trying to stop him rushing into our bedroom as soon as he woke up in the morning (whatever time that might be), and it has been a great success. The clock has been designed in a fun way, with ears that move and eyes and mouth that open and close depending on whether the alarm is set. If you wish you can have an audible alarm, but we find the rabbit being awake or asleep enough. If our son wakes up and the bunny is still asleep he knows to wait till the bunny wakes up! He carries it around with him and it has been robust enough to put up with most that has been done to it.

Just once, when it fell off his chair onto a wooden floor, the mechanism jammed (the ears are a little vulnerable), but I was able to remove the back and fix it. The only other negative point (which goes for many analogue alarm clocks) is that as our son goes to bed around 8pm and we want him to stay in bed till 7.30 or 8am, we have to initially set the alarm to about 7.15 - any later and the bunny wakes up again immediately. Then we go into his room later in the evening to move the alarm to the desired time.

In summary, its quite a bit of money for a clock but its well designed, robust, gives you more sleep time, and hopefully will help your child to tell the time into the bargain. Doesn't appear to be heavy on the AA batteries either.

First impressions are that this is a great little alarm clock with lots of features - 20 radio pre-sets, 2 alarm types, snooze function, nap timer... however there are a few pitfalls.

Ever fancies a 45min nap in the afternoon? You can't have one as the nap function jumps from 30 to 60mins.. they really should have provided a function to set your own nap length.

Perhaps the most annoying feature on this alarm clock however is the backlight. If you're finding it hard to get to sleep at night, even on the lowest setting, the backlight shines brightly in a dark room.

If these problems don't bother you however, this is a fairly smart, compact alarm clock... just a couple of improvements however would make a world of difference.

What can i say, an absolute bargain at this price and highly recommended.

Ok, if you compare the sound quality to a BOSE stereo there is going to be no comparison but this isn't trying to compete at the high end of the market.

i have been using it for about a month now - really happy with no distortion or feedback problems. Fits my nano perfectly and looks more expensive than it is with the cool blue backlight. having a radio is also a real bonus.

in conclusion, you just cant go wrong at this price.
